Gurdjieff, A Beginner's Guide: How Changing The Way We React To Misplacing Our Keys Can Transform Our Lives

I just got done reading the introduction to Gurdjieff’s Work. I have to say that it is a very good read. The last couple of years I have studied meditation and Buddhism and I can say that there are a lot of parallels.

From various sources I hear that Gil Friedman distills the information too much and maybe to the point that it lost some of it’s original detail. Obviously for someone who has never read anything else by or about Gurdjieff it’s hard to judge. Regardless of the being true to the source there are some really interesting things in the book. The Law of Three, the Law of Seven, Pendulum, attention to yourself and separating your personality from your essence. All of these ways of structuring the world and improving yourself can be applied to improve one’s understanding of the external and internal state. The book also gives some practical ways to get started on the path of self improvement. I would definitely recommend that people read this.
